Description
Royal Porcelain Manufactory of Sèvres.
Plate from the ‘Service des Princes’ range, in polychrome porcelain and gold. The centre of the plate is stamped with the crowned royal monogram, encircled by laurel and oak branches, and further decorated with yellow, a rocaille border and cherubs (applied). The rim features an ivy frieze. Marks on the reverse: S37, SEVRES 1844 and Château des Tuileries.
Louis-Philippe period.
Diameter: 24 cm
Commissioned between 1834 and 1846, the ‘Princes’ service’ was the everyday tableware used by the King and his entourage, distributed amongst the various Crown residences.
