Description
PORQUIER-BEAU pottery.
A ‘handkerchief-shaped’ earthenware crêpe dish with a polychrome decoration depicting a scene of a woman serving a man leaning on a table, titled ‘Halte de Guengat’ within a frame of blue scrolls on a yellow background. The rolled-up corner bears the Breton coat of arms. Marked and titled on the reverse.
Circa 1880.
Height: 27 cm – Width: 19.5 cm
This design is listed as no. 169 in Alfred Beau’s inventory. A comparable piece is held at the Musée Breton in Quimper.
