Description
Irénée ROCHARD (1906–1984). A bird of prey with outstretched wings, clutching a rocky mound. Bronze statue with a brown patina tinged with green, signed on the plinth. Height: 76 cm - Width: 88 cm - Depth: 38 cm Provenance: Auction of 15 March 2013, lot no. 266. Family tradition holds that three copies of this bronze were cast: one for the artist’s family, the second given to Mr Marcel CERDAN, and the one we are presenting at auction. Irénée Rochard’s work follows in the tradition of animal sculptors who seek to capture the presence, energy and demeanour of animals in sculpted form. His works are characterised by a careful observation of anatomy and movement, as well as by precise modelling that captures the texture of the fur or plumage. Lot from a voluntary sale.
