Oil on canvas, bearing an apocryphal signature in the lower left-hand corner, dated 1867 (re-stretched, craquelure, small tears, crease).
Gilded wooden frame.
Height: 88 cm – Width: 81 cm
The original of this painting is held at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nantes. Specialising in animal painting from 1835 onwards, he depicted the giraffe Zarafa during its journey; Brascassat went on to travel across Europe to discover the great masters such as Paulus Potter.
