Henri BERGE (1870–1937) joined Daum in 1895 as a designer, collaborating in particular with Jacques Grubber. With nature as his primary source of inspiration, he left his mark on the firm’s output. Alongside his work at Daum, he had his ceramics produced by the Mougin brothers and provided Amalric Walter with designs for his pâte de verre pieces. Having initially trained in ceramics at the Sèvres Manufactory, he left the Paris region for eastern France in 1905 and began his career as a glassmaker at Daum. It was there that the two men met. When he left the glassworks to set up his own business in 1919, success followed, particularly at the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts. Lot from a voluntary sale.
