A silver tea and coffee service, richly engraved with stylised foliage scrolls against an amati background. The sinuous handles feature acanthus leaves, whilst the knobs are in the shape of blossoming flowers. The interior is vermeilled, the legs are curved (with minor knocks), and it is signed on the reverse: A . LEBRUN - PARIS. The set comprises: Jug, Teapot, Lidded sugar bowl, Milk jug. Oriental style. Minerva hallmark – Silversmith: Marc-Auguste LEBRUN (active in Paris from 1821). Total weight: 3205.75 g A pupil of the great ODIOT, Marc-Auguste Lebrun is regarded as one of the greatest Parisian silversmiths of his generation. Lot from a voluntary sale.
