Description
ROLEX DATJUST OVETTONE REF. 6105 IN YELLOW GOLD - From 1950 Reference No. 6105 Serial No. 32*** Year: circa 1950 Material: 18k yellow gold Weight: 60g Dimensions: 35mm Movement: Automatic Crystal: Plexiglass Strap: Original leather with 18k buckle Introduced in 1951, the Rolex reference 6105 is among the rarest and most desirable members of the celebrated ‘Ovettone’ family, the direct predecessor to the Datejust. Its oversized 36 mm case, remarkable for the period, earned these early automatic Rolex models their enduring collector’s nickname. Crafted in yellow gold, this early example is in outstanding condition, retaining sharp bezel reeding. The dial has developed a beautiful sand-coloured patina over time, whilst the rare red ‘Officially’ designation beneath the Rolex signature adds an extra layer of appeal for collectors. Combining rarity, originality and historical significance, this reference 6105 is a remarkable example of Rolex’s era. Currently in working order.
