Franco ALBINI (1905-1977): Pair of "Infinito" Bookcases published by Cassina, model CS-835/3100, in American walnut, consisting of vertical uprights fixed to the floor, two-door container, black lacquered fixings. Dim. uprights : H. 268 to 290 cm - Shelf dimensions: W. 80 - D. 35 cm - Container dimensions: H. 49.5 cm * The items displayed on the shelves are not part of this lot. This modular bookcase is part of the "Infinito" system, designed by Franco Albini in the 1950s to respond to an innovative idea in modern furniture: that of an airy, adjustable structure that can be adapted to the different volumes of the home. Conceived as interior architecture in its own right, it combines rational rigour with Italian elegance. The vertical uprights, which can be adjusted between floor and ceiling, allow the pedestals and shelves to be freely organised, in line with the principle of balance and transparency so dear to the designer.
