Description
BAVARIAN OFFICER’S SCARF BELT
BELONGING TO FRANÇOIS CHARLES ZORN DE BULACH,
USED DURING THE CAMPAIGNS OF 1806, 1807, 1809
AND 1812.
Made of silver-threaded braid interwoven with five stripes of
sky-blue cotton braid. Sky-blue silk lining.
With a hand-written identification card.
Length: 290 cm. Finishing in two large tassels,
with a silver lamé base surmounted by an openwork
cross-hatch pattern. Fringes in white, silver and sky-blue
trimmings. A.B.E. (Signs of wear). First Empire period.
Biography: François Charles Zorn de Bulach (1784–1812); Son of Antoine
Joseph, lieutenant in the Bavarian light cavalry regiment ‘de Linange’. He
died at Pultusk during the retreat from Russia (1812).
