Description
OFFICER’S FULL DRESS BELT
OF THE CAVALRY BELONGING TO ERNEST MAXIMILIAN ZORN OF
BULACH (1786–1868).
In gilded braid with black piping, lined with black cloth,
with two straps lined with black leather. Rectangular buckle
lined with white leather, in gilded and chiselled brass.
Border decorated with laurels. Centre motif featuring the arms of
France beneath a crown, within a wreath of oak leaves
and laurels. B.E. First Restoration period, modified during
the Hundred Days.
Note: the motif featuring the full coat of arms of France was detached during the Hundred Days,
but is still present, though not refitted.
History: Upon the fall of the Empire, Zorn de Bulach was an officer in the 2nd Lancers Regiment.
In 1816, he transferred to the Côte d’Or Mounted Chasseurs.
