LETTER OF APPOINTMENT.
Appointing Sieur Toussaint Vigogne, squadron commander in the
12th Dragoon Regiment, to the rank of squadron commander in the
17th Dragoon Regiment, drawn up in Paris on 1 October 1814,
signed ‘Louis’, on behalf of King Louis XVIII, and countersigned by
‘Count Dupont’, Minister and Secretary of State for War,
Laurent Gouvion, Count Pierre-Antoine Dupont de l’Étang
(1765–1840). Document printed and partly handwritten on
parchment, with a blind-stamped seal beneath the paper bearing the full coat of arms
of France for the Ministry of War.
