Certificate appointing Sieur Toussaint Vigogne,
squadron commander, to the rank of Knight of the Royal and Military
Order of Saint Louis, issued in Paris on 22 April 1818, signed ‘Louis’,
on behalf of King Louis XVIII and countersigned by ‘Gouvion St Cyr’,
Minister and Secretary of State for War, Laurent Gouvion,
Marquis de Saint-Cyr (1746–1830). Document printed and
partly handwritten on parchment, with a dry seal beneath the paper
bearing the Great Arms of France for the Ministry of War.
