MAJOR GENERAL’S UNIFORM
‘TENENTE GÉNÉRAL’, HAVING BELONGED TO
PRINCE ALFONSO DE BRAGANCE, DUKE OF PORTO.
Comprising: - a major general’s dolman, in
black cloth, with braids, brandebourgs and
black passementerie braid. Facings decorated with three silver stars of a major general
and a double gold passementerie braid. Shoulder
straps in gold passementerie fastening with a gold button
bearing the Portuguese coat of arms. Collar decorated on each side
with the three stars of a Major General and a star bearing
the gold cipher of King Manuel II under a crown, silver-plated.
Black satin lining, with white collar. (One
collar star is missing) - A pair of trousers in bluish iron-grey cloth with double
scarlet stripes. Internal pockets in chamois leather. Brown leather
drawstring. Fairly good condition.
Portuguese workmanship, circa 1908/1910.
