Description
ORDER OF THE GOLDEN FLECCE.
Certificate appointing His Royal Highness, Prince Alfonso,
Duke of Porto, to the rank of Knight of the Order of the Golden
, issued in Madrid on 4 February 1884, drawn up in the name
of King Alfonso II of Spain and signed by him at the bottom
of the document ‘Alfonso’ and countersigned by ‘Vidit
Chillon’. Document printed and partly handwritten on
paper, with a dry seal bearing the full coat of arms of the Kingdom
of Spain adorned with four fleurs-de-lis. Enclosed is the letter
signed ‘Emilio María de Torres y González-Arnao’, from the
private secretary to King Alfonso XIII, dated 1 June
1920 and addressed to the widow of the Duke of Porto, Nevada de Braganza
(1885–1941), presenting her with this diploma, which she wished to
keep. Creases, slight wear, but in good overall condition.
