Portrait of Grand Duke Nicholas Pavlovich,
the future Emperor Nicholas I of Russia (1796–1855).
Round miniature, gouache on paper, c. 1830, preserved under
domed glass in its original carved and gilded wooden frame decorated
with a frieze of palmettes. Signs of age, but in good overall condition.
