TABLEWARE OF
GRAND DUKE MICHEL PAVLOVITCH (1798–1849).
By Naudin, Paris, 1819–1838.
Comprising 20 vermeil forks, known as the ‘filet’ style,
decorated within an oval cartouche with the Grand Duke’s interlaced monogram
in Cyrillic script, MP (Michel Pavlovitch)
surmounted by the imperial crown on an amati background, decorated with
palmettes, small flowers and vine leaves.
Signs of age, but in good overall condition.
Hallmark: Head of Michelangelo facing right (1819–1838) and
second cock, mark 1 (1809–1819).
Silversmith’s mark: François-Dominique Naudin (active from
1800 to 1840).
Hallmark: Head of Ceres (full hallmark) and
helmeted head on the right (half hallmark).
L.: 20.5 cm and 21 cm.
