TABLEWARE SET OF
GRAND DUKE MICHEL PAVLOVITCH (1798–1849).
By Biennais, Paris, 1809–1819.
Comprising 3 vermeil fruit knives, known as the ‘au
filet’ model, vermeil blade, flat handle decorated on the handle within
an oval cartouche with the Grand Duke’s interlaced monogram
in Cyrillic characters MP (Michel Pavlovitch) surmounted by
the imperial crown on an amati background.
Signs of age, but in good overall condition.
Hallmark: Second cock, grade 1 (1809–1819).
Silversmith’s mark: purple monkey
Hallmark: helmeted head to the right (medium hallmark)
