Infantry officer’s sabre. Blackened, chequered wooden hilt. Chiselled and gilded brass mountings, eagle-headed pommel, single-bar guard and crossguard decorated with a pomegranate, a horn, and oak and laurel branches. Curved blade with a flat back, hollow edges, engraved, gilded and blued to one-third of its length (signs of wear). Leather scabbard (later addition) with two gilded brass fittings (re-soldered scabbard tip). Length: 92 cm. ABE, c. 1810.
