Model 1822 line cavalry officer’s sabre. Leather-covered hilt with filigree (wear to the leather and minor losses to the filigree). Brass mountings, four-bladed guard decorated with laurel leaves, hallmarked ‘Manceaux’ in Paris. Curved blade with a flat back, bearing remnants of the manufacturer’s engraving and hollow-ground sections, hallmarked. Sheath made of sheet iron, hallmarked to match the guard, with two bands and two rings. Presented with a chasseur à pied officer’s belt, in patent leather with a brass buckle.
