1822 model cavalry sabre. Leather-covered hilt with brass filigree. Brass mountings, three-pronged guard, stamped on the guard plate and one prong of the anchor, and bearing a serial number. Curved blade with hollow edges and a flat back, engraved ‘Manufre Nle de Châtellerault August 1851’. Iron sheet scabbard with a ferrule bearing the same serial number as the guard, stamped with an anchor at the top and on the ferrule. Length: 110 cm. With a leather wrist strap. A.B.E. Note the consistent use of the naval anchor motif on this cavalry sabre.
