Light cavalry officer’s sabre in the chasseur style. Horn hilt with filigree, brass mountings, three-pronged guard decorated with laurel friezes and shuttle-shaped pommels adorned with small flowers. Scabbard cap with a long skirt, monogrammed ‘JG’ in Gothic script. Curved blade with a flat back and hollow edges, engraved one-third of the way up and signed on the heel ‘P. Knecht in Solingen’. Iron sheet scabbard with two clasps (oxidation). Length: 97 cm. With a braided wrist strap. ABE, mid-19th century.
