Model 1845 infantry officer’s sabre. Horn hilt (watermark and holes missing). Gilded and chiselled brass mountings, single-bar guard, openwork, decorated with foliage, hallmarked ‘JM’ and ‘CC2’. Curved blade with a fuller and hollowed sides, the back engraved “Manufre Rle de Châtellerault January 1847”. Leather scabbard with three gilt brass fittings, two rings. Iron ball pommel. Pommel stamped ‘J.MANCEAUX PARIS’. Length: 94 cm. A.B.E. (Wear to the gilding). July Monarchy period.
