Artillery officer’s sabre. Horn hilt with double filigree, brass mountings, lion’s head pommel, guard with one main prong and four secondary prongs holding a shell decorated with crossed cannons and a grenade. Slender blade with the back engraved ‘Mre d’armes de Chatt Xbre 1893’. Iron sheet scabbard with a single strap. Length: 107 cm. Presented with a black patent leather belt lined with red leather, featuring a stamped and gilded buckle in the artillery style, and a braided sword knot. BE. Made in the late 19th century, inspired by a First Empire model.
