Leather-covered hilt with embossed pattern, brass fittings, stamped and marked. Straight blade with a flat back, engraved ‘MRE D’armes de CHATT March 1880 CAVRIE Légère’, with hollow edges. Sheath made of sheet iron with two bands, one of which bears the guard’s serial number (serial number 20)
