Model 1896 cavalry officer’s sabre. Varnished horn hilt with filigree. Copper-plated brass fittings; a five-pronged guard forming a symmetrical shell decorated with laurel leaves and acanthus. Crossguard adorned with a Medusa’s head. Straight blade with a flat back, signed “Couleaux & Cie Klingenthal France”, with a hollow-ground edge.
