Horn hilt with double brass filigree. Brass mountings; five-pronged guard forming a symmetrical shell. Crossguard adorned with two silver stars denoting the rank of brigadier-general (later addition); curved blade with a flat back and hollow edges. Sheath made of sheet iron with a single strap and a ring.
