Naval officer’s sabre, a fine luxury model. Horn hilt, gilded brass fittings with a foliage design, single-bar guard partly openwork, decorated with a naval anchor and reeds. Curved blade with a flat back, signed ‘Couleaux & Cie Klingenthal’, with hollow edges and a blood groove. Leather scabbard (showing slight wear) with three stamped and gilded brass fittings decorated with anchors, dolphins and foliage. With a wrist strap and a naval officer’s belt (one of the belt’s straps is torn). Length: 91 cm. Late 19th century, early 20th century.
