Luxury officer’s sabre. Horn hilt with double silver filigree, gilded brass mountings chiselled with intertwined oak and laurel leaves. Four-branch crossguard and a counterguard branch, decorated in the same style. Blade cap with a long tail, adorned with a motif featuring a family coat of arms (unidentified) in silver beneath a count’s crown. Blade with a hollow back and sides, acid-etched halfway with foliage scrolls and trophies. Sheath made of sheet iron with a single ferrule decorated with line work. Length: 104.5 cm. Presented with an officer’s sword knot featuring a tassel in gilded trimmings. BE, late 19th century.
