A Model 1874 shako for mounted chasseurs, size 56, from the 16th Regiment of Mounted Chasseurs of Beaune, identifiable by a stamp from the 8th Army Corps; it was made of cardboard covered with dark blue cloth edged with woven braid, brass hunter’s crest, a tricolour cockade adorned with dark blue braid, a brass chain chinstrap held in place by three lion’s heads, a black leather visor, and a black ribbed leather lining. Features a yellow pompom corresponding to the 3rd Squadron. In good condition apart from significant damage to the back of the cap, which is badly unstitched.
