The Virgin on the Rocks, a statue of the Madonna with the Child Jesus, John the Baptist, and the Devil, sculptured wood, 17th/18th century. Sculptured wood, with traces of polychromy. Depiction of the Virgin Mary standing on the rocks, with the Child Jesus and John the Baptist. At the feet of the Virgin sits a dragon or devil figure, as a symbol of the victory over original sin. The figure of the Archangel Gabriel is most likely missing. (25 x 55.5 x 19 cm)
