Description
A life-size ‘Mary, Help of Christians, Maria Auxiliatrix’, patinated plaster. Early 20th century. A large sculpture of a Crowned Madonna and Child with sceptre, known as ‘Mary, Help of Christians, Maria Auxiliatrix’. Polychrome patinated and gilded plaster, finished with glass eyes. The sceptre and crowns are later additions and replacements. The Madonna is marked on the reverse, at the bottom, with a maker’s mark within a rectangle, but it is illegible. (78 x 215 x 80 cm)
