Description
First World War French 1886 Lebel bayonet. Of the first type (short tang with no visible thread on the back of the grip) with uncut quillon and nickel silver grip. With its scabbard. The bayonet blade has a small shock at the tip (it must have fallen to the ground point forward) and measures 51.7 cm. The scabbard is slightly twisted from the 12th cm before the terminal end, in a single axis opposite the trigger guard for attachment to the scabbard holder. The bayonet is not fully retracted. It protrudes 7 mm. The push button is jammed. The scabbard shows surface oxidation with a protective tar coating. The serial numbers are present under this coating. Needs cleaning.
