Description
Collins N°1005 US Army 1890 machete used during the First World War with its leather sheath. Impressive for the rustic finish of its robust curved steel blade. The plates are in wood and the scabbard is in worked leather, well marked "Collins" with the manufacturer's logo printed in relief and small decorations in the Far West spirit. Brass fittings. Total length: 51.5 cm including 38.5 cm blade. Nice thread, no bumps or deformation when sharpened. In fine condition for an heirloom of the Indian Wars that was to end up in the kit of the doughboys stationed in the Icaunaise region when their equipment was modernised in 1918.
