[ILLUSTRATED] The Metamorphoses of Ovid Chez Augustin Courbé, Paris, 1651 - Excellent edition translated into French prose, 2 parts in one folio volume, well illustrated with a title-frontispiece engraved by P. Firens after Rabel, a portrait of Ovid in an allegorical frame, engraved by J. Boulanger after Chauveau, 48 bands, 45 initials and 28 lamp-ends, repeated, engraved by Boulanger, 137 in-text figures by Matheus, Firens, Briot, Faulte. The second part, the Judgement of Paris, has its own title page. Copy in its contemporary binding in poor condition, first cover detached, 7 ribbed spine with slightly detached caissons decorated with a figure, interior very well preserved, a small worm gallery in the inner margin on a few pages not affecting the text, a few pages badly folded in the corners but not serious.
