LE BAS - Monuments of figurative antiquity collected in Greece by the Morée commission Imprimerie de Firmin Didot, Paris, 1837 - First edition and complete copies of the 2 sections bound in two uniform volumes of this very attractive publication illustrated with 10 large and beautiful fold-out plates containing numerous engraved figures. The first section is devoted to the bas-reliefs of the temple of Phigalia, the second to Argolid and Laconia. Bound in late 19th century brown half morocco, well produced, small tears at the head of one volume, inside quite fresh, scattered foxing. Includes a signed autograph letter from the author to the Vicomte de Santarem, historian and diplomat who was also a bibliophile. An uncommon publication. In-8, 74pp. ; 255pp.
