Description
[Very curious and beautiful copy of this map of Coutances engraved by Defehrt. Labelled "Aux Bougies chinoises" by Seguin, Ordinary Artificers to the King Late 18th century map, entirely and finely watercoloured in beautiful, well-preserved colours, folded into three parts in a full calf contemporary binding with the arms of the Marquise de Pompadour, red morocco title-piece on the spine and numbering 126, slight rubbing, good overall condition. The work is enriched by a notarial document from the revolutionary period dated 22 August 1793, signed by members of the Directoire and bearing a wax seal of the French Republic.
