Preben FABRICIUS (1931-1984) & Jorgen KASTHOLM (1931-2007), Edition BO-EX - DENMARK, Rare executive desk in chromed steel, suspended rosewood veneer pedestal opening to two drawers in black lacquered front, glass slab top, 1960s - 68 x 180 x 90 cm approx. (small accidents and missing veneer, wear stains on drawers, scratches and chips on top, good overall condition).
COMMENTS: Particularly interesting for its combination of chromed steel, glass slab top and rosewood, this desk illustrates Fabricius' cabinet-making skills combined with Kastholm's knowledge of ironwork. The result is a clean, elegant design inspired by both functionalism and modernism. The rosewood carcase is a typical quality detail of the period. This type of exotic wood was very popular in Scandinavian design in the 1960s, alongside teak and wenge.
