Born in Bordeaux, Denise Risterucci trained at the Art Students League in New York. Around 1930, she moved to Paris, where she discovered and admired the work of Bourdelle and Despiau. Active in Parisian artistic circles, she painted portraits of numerous French and American personalities. She exhibited mainly at the Salon des Tuileries, the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon des artistes français.
