Description
GAUL - CELTIC Aulerques Éburovices. Hemistater with a wild boar, var. 3, undated (early 1st century BC to the Gallic Wars). LT. missing – DT.2401-2402; Electrum – 3.02 g – 19.5 mm – 4 h MP specimen no. 106 in the book “Surréelles Monnaies Gauloises”, by Samuel Gouet and Marc Petit – acquired from Y. Cellard in 1997. Relatively large and slightly irregular blank with a fine, complete reverse paired with a slightly blurred and worn obverse due to a convex blank. Very Good to Very Good-Very Good / Very Good-Very Good. This type of hemistater is probably the most common in the electrum coinage of the Aulerci Eburovices. The gold appears to be heavily alloyed and some specimens may be heavily worn, as if they had been in circulation for a long time. Whilst quarters are known for the wolf type and for variant 1 featuring a wild boar, no quarters are recorded for the following variants
