GAUL - CELTIC Aulerci Eburovices. Lamellar coin bearing the head of Pallas, var. 1 ‘with seahorse’ ND (end of the Gallic Wars and pre-Augustan period). DT.2423 and 2426 var – Guihard 2011 LTP-7a series; Silver – 0.92 g – 15 mm – 6 h MP specimen no. 108 in the book “Surréelles Monnaies Gauloises”, by Samuel Gouet and Marc Petit – acquired from Y. Cellard in 2003. Coin on a wide, oval blank with a complete obverse, though marred by a die crack. Extraordinary reverse, with a vigorous strike and a beautiful iridescent patina. Very Fine to Superb / Superb. At the time of the publication of the *Nouvel Atlas*, this type was considered previously unpublished. The style of this coin, particularly on the obverse, differs markedly from that of the lamellar coins of the 31B series attributed to the Ambiens and from the other coins of the 414 series to which our coin belongs. On the reverse, this specimen is particularly complete and allows us to understand the composition of the (highly stylised) Victory figure and the nature of the animal beneath the horse (‘small sea monster (?)’ according to the *Nouvel Atlas* and ‘seahorse’ according to P.-M. Guihard). DT. 2423 has a different motif in front of the chest; the precise classification, variant by variant, of these rare coins still needs to be refined
