Description
GAUL - CELTIC Carnutes. Bronze coin featuring a Pegasus and an ND cross (late first half of the 1st century BC). LT. missing - BnF 4216-4217 - DT.2603; Bronze – 3.01 g – 16 mm – 6 h MP specimen no. 119 in the book *Surréelles Monnaies Gauloises*, by Samuel Gouet and Marc Petit – acquired from Y. Cellard in 1998. High-quality bronze with fine relief. Dark, lustrous patina on the reverse but with small reddish deposits on the obverse. Very Good to Superb / Superb. Although two varieties have been distinguished in the *Nouvel Atlas*, they should be grouped together; the supposed charioteer on var. 2 is in fact nothing more than the wing of the incomplete var. 1
