FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XIII (1610–1643). Quart d’écu, 1st type 1642, Z, Grenoble. Dy.1332 - G.27 (R5) - RN 1990, pp.109–170 (4 specimens recorded out of 14,063 struck); Silver – 9.61 g – 29.5 mm – 6 h With a grey patina with bluish highlights. Stripes on the obverse. Very Fine. The Grenoble mint under Louis XIII was the subject of a comprehensive study by Christian Charlet, in the *Revue Numismatique* of 1990, vol. 32, pp. 109–170 and plates XVI–XVIII. Bearing the anchor of the master Pierre Ferté as an initial mark on the obverse. The pine cone, repeated at the end of both the obverse and reverse, is the mark of the engraver Gaspard Baron, prior to September 1642 (when he was replaced by Simonet). The obverse and reverse feature an inner ring.
