FRANCE - FRANCE Louis-Philippe I (1830–1848). Medal, André Marie Jean Jacques Dupin, by Galle, 1839, Paris. Collignon 1167-1; Copper – 117.81 g – 60.5 mm – 12 h No hallmark on the edge. Two spots on the obverse. Superb. André Marie Jean Jacques Dupin, known as Dupin the Elder, was a French lawyer and politician. He was a Member of Parliament in 1815, President of the Chamber of Deputies in 1832, became a Peer of France, President of the Constituent Assembly in 1848, of the Legislative Assembly in 1849 and finally a senator in 1857. He was also a member of the Académie française, following his election in 1832. A close associate of Louis-Philippe d’Orléans, King of the French in 1830, André Dupin was a key political figure in French politics following the fall of the Napoleonic Empire during the two Restorations.
