Collignon 1561; Copper – 63.63 g – 51.5 mm – 12 h A few marks on the fields. Superb. Inspired by the collection of medals of the Kings of France commissioned by de Launay, the dies for which had been engraved by Thomas Bernard in the 18th century, Armand Auguste Caqué, commissioned by Madame La Dauphine, produced the famous ‘Numismatic Gallery of the Kings of France’, a set of 73 medals which was exhibited at the Salon from 1836 to 1839
