Description
FRANCE - FRANCE MEDALS - France, Louis XV (1715–1774). Medal depicting a visit to the Paris Mint, by C.-N. Roëttiers, 1770 (20th-century strike attributed in 1950), Paris. Divo 179 - MdP 1828, p. 89 - MdP.C.150; Silver - 127.85 g - 64 mm - 12 h Inscription engraved on the reverse: MR PATRICE DE BEAUVAIS, EMBASSY SECRETARY, VISITED THE MINT ON 22 SEPTEMBER 1950. Hallmark (horn) 1 SILVER on the reverse. Single-sided strike of the reverse, with a dedication on the reverse. Superb condition. Patrice Le Caruyer de Beauvais (1922–1994) was appointed consular attaché following a special competitive examination on 15 November 1945. In 1950, he was posted to Vienna. He went on to serve as French ambassador to numerous countries and ended his career in Zimbabwe in the 1980s.
