FRANCE - FRANCE MEDALS - Burgundy. Plaque in honour of Paul Vitry, curator of the national museums, by H. Bouchard, 1939, Paris. Bouchard 1975, 95; Bronze – 194.38 g – 78.5 x 64 mm – 12 h BRONZE hallmark on the edge. Superb. Henri Bouchard, born in 1875 in Dijon, was a sculptor and engraver, and was awarded the Grand Prix de Rome in 1901. He took part in the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts. From 1928 to 1929, he was a lecturer at the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs, then from 1929 to 1945, he became a lecturer and head of workshop at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. A member of the ‘Collaboration’ group, he was recognised as a collaborator at the time of the Liberation (case closed). He produced a large body of work, which can be seen at the Museum in Dijon or in Roubaix (at ‘La Piscine’ in Roubaix, where his museum has been relocated).
