RUSSIA Catherine II (1762–1796). Medal depicting the destruction of the Ottoman fleet at the Battle of Çeşme, with Count Alexei Grigoryevich Orlov commanding the naval forces, by J. B. Gass, 1770. Diakov 153.1; Silver-plated copper – 239.15 g – 91.5 mm – 12 h Spectacular large-sized medal, with detailed cartography on the reverse. In silver-plated copper, cleaned; the silver plating has worn away on the raised areas, revealing the copper beneath. A few marks on the edge. TTB.
