Description
GAULE - CELTIC Ambiens. Bronze with facing boars, Class II, var. 2 ND (second third of the 1st century BC and pre-Augustaean period). LT.8518 - DT.464 - Scheers 416 ; Bronze - 2.95 g - 15.5 mm - 8 h TTB. The theme of leaning or alternating animals (series 52) is repeated with horses, boars, wolves and even oxen. This variety with two boars offers a very harmonious and balanced composition, with motifs of strong symbolic value; the bucrane in front and the animal without front legs with the head turned upside down (found for example in front of the portraits in bronzes DT.385-386).
