FRANCE / CAPÉTIENS - FRANCE / ROYAL John II the Good (1350-1364). Gros au lis couronné pour le Languedoc ND (1359), Montpellier ? Dy.350 (Gros au châtel couronné); Silver - 3.16 g - 24 mm - 3 h The flan is barely veiled with a minimal weakness of striking. Pleasant patina. TTB to Superb. Coinage ordered in May 1359: gros au lis couronné and not gros au châtel couronné as Duplessy calls it. This Languedoc production is attested in Montpellier and three other Languedoc workshops. Three examples were present in the Mirepoix treasure with two different types of engraving
