Mathieu I de Lorraine, known as le Débonnaire (1110-1176), was Duke of Lorraine from 1139 to 1176. Around 1138 he married Judith of Hohenstaufen (1123-1195), also known as Berthe. This medal belongs to a series struck by Ferdinand de Saint-Urbain in Nancy, representing the dukes and duchesses of Lorraine.
